Morocco Month by Month

January

The Atlantic is in full power mode: big swells roll in – perfect for experienced surfers. But thanks to sheltered bays, beginners can still find friendly waves. The weather stays mild (18–22 °C) and the beaches are nice and quiet. Beyond the surf, small towns and local markets are great for slow exploring.

February

Still prime surf season: solid swells, plenty of sun and mild temperatures (19–22 °C). Tourist spots are pleasantly uncrowded, so you get a more relaxed, local experience. A great time to mix surfing with hiking or cultural day trips.

March

Spring is around the corner: swells mellow out a bit but are still consistent – great for all levels. With temps around 22–24 °C and blooming nature, it’s the perfect time for surf plus adventures like hikes in Paradise Valley or trips into the mountains. A really balanced month for active travelers.

April

Days get longer and warmer (24–26 °C), waves a bit smaller – ideal for beginners. April is a great time to learn or level up your surf skills. The landscapes come alive and it’s perfect for walks, cultural outings or a day trip to charming Taroudant.

May

Early summer brings sunshine, barely any rain and temps around 25–28 °C. The waves are softer, great for relaxed sessions. This is the time to really explore: think local markets, hidden mountain villages or lazy coastal drives. The ocean is already warm enough for long swims.

June

Things heat up (28–30 °C) and the ocean calms down – it’s the start of classic beach season. Surf conditions slow down a bit, but longboarders and beginners can still find fun waves. And if there’s a flat day? Our surfskate sessions will still get you on a board – just on wheels.

Surfskating

July

Peak summer! Temps hit 30 °C and beyond, and the water is super warm. Waves are small, but it’s a great time for mellow surf, SUP or just enjoying beach life. Also perfect for soaking up Moroccan culture, street food and long evenings by the sea. Hot tip: Agadir’s harbor comes alive at night.

August

Similar to July: hot, dry and chill. Surfing takes a back seat, but there’s plenty of swimming, exploring and relaxing to do. Great time to cool off in the mountains or totally unwind at a traditional hammam.

September

Summer lingers on with temps around 28–30 °C – but the first stronger swells start to appear. Ideal for anyone wanting surf with a summer vibe. The light gets softer too, making it a beautiful time for road trips and photography.

October

Surf season kicks in again with more consistent swells – great for intermediates and pros. Temps are still super pleasant (25–28 °C). The atmosphere is lively but not overcrowded – a sweet spot for combining waves and authentic Moroccan experiences.

November

Full-on surf time! Big waves, fewer tourists and mild weather (22–25 °C) – a dream for surfers chasing action. Culturally, things pick up again with local festivals. It’s also a great time for travelers wanting a more peaceful, real slice of Morocco.

December

Winter’s back – but in Morocco that means solid swells and mild temps (18–22 °C). A great choice if you want to skip traditional Christmas and trade it for surf sessions in the morning and tagine under the stars at night. Bonus: the clean winter air makes for seriously beautiful sunsets.
